BIOHAZARD 6 was the most ambitious numbered entry in terms of story. It follows multiple characters over the course of a few months, having settings in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

PLOT

The story follows 7 characters: Leon S. Kennedy / Helena Harper, Chris Redfield / Piers Nivans, Jake Muller / Sherry Birkin, and Ada Wong.

The current President of the United States is about to reveal the truth about the Raccoon City incident, suddenly a viral outbreak hits Tall Oaks, U.S.A.

This sets off a chain of events which has all 7 characters face off against a new enemy.

FEATURES

BIOHAZARD 6 continued the gameplay style of BIOHAZARD 4 and 5. New game modes were included for this title, highlights from these modes include the ability for a player to “invade” another player’s game as a B.O.W. and try to kill the player during their campaign. Each campaign also had a certain “style” of gameplay which favored certain characters, such as horror, action, and stealth.

CAPCOM updated the title after release, these updates addressed camera issues and unlocked Ada’s campaign from the beginning for new players. Ada’s campaign also received a partner character known as “Agent”.

DEVELOPMENT NOTES

BIOHAZARD 6 was first conceptualized after the release of BIOHAZARD 5, with full development beginning in 2010.

The game was directed by Eiichiro Sasaki, who by then was a seasoned director at CAPCOM, having previously directed BIOHAZARD Outbreak 1 and 2. One of the main ideas for BIOHAZARD 6 was to bring zombies back into the series since they were a fan favorite and missing from BIOHAZARD 4 and BIOHAZARD 5. CAPCOM also wanted to focus on the “ultimate horror entertainment” experience.

This approach led CAPCOM to incorporate classic horror elements present in previous titles, this was most evident in Leon’s campaign. CAPCOM also incorporated elements which would appeal to fans outside of the Survival Horror genre. That action-oriented gameplay was prevalent during Chris Redfield / Piers Nivans, Jake Muller / Sherry Birkin, and Ada Wong / Agent’s campaigns. A staff of 600 plus worked on the development of BIOHAZARD 6, making it CAPCOM’s largest production to date.
