biohazard revelations 2
BIOHAZARD Revelations 2 was the first title in the series to be released in a weekly, episodic format. It features the return of Claire Redfield as she is mysteriously abducted by a mysterious new enemy.
PLOT
The game follows Claire Redfield and Moira Burton as they and various members of TerraSave are kidnapped by masked assailants.
After discovering that his daughter has been kidnapped along with Claire, Barry Burton decides to search for them.
Upon arrival, Barry meets a mysterious young girl named Natalia.
FEATURES
BIOHAZARD Revelations 2 was released in an unorthodox manner, it was released weekly through the PlayStation Network and XBOX Live. The presentation featured recaps of the previous episodes in order to keep players up to speed on the main story. Revelations 2 also features two teams of protagonists, where one character per team heavily uses weapons while the other is merely support.
Supporting characters can stun enemies or help navigate the dark environments. Revelations 2 also featured a unique “fear” system for supporting characters. This elevated the tension since the player did not know who could turn into the infected.
DEVELOPMENT NOTES
BIOHAZARD Revelations 2 was developed by the same team responsible for the original Revelations on the Nintendo 3DS.
CAPCOM wanted the Revelations series to be fan driven, while the numbered titles would focus on bringing BIOHAZARD to a wider audience. With the focus on horror, CAPCOM hoped to remind hardcore fans why they fell in love with BIOHAZARD. The episodic format was decided upon for two reasons: CAPCOM wanted players to discuss their excitement and theories between segments.
They also wanted players who bought the first episode and did not like Revelations 2 to only pay for one part of the game and not the full price, this way they could decide to come back on their own if they wished. Dai Satō returned to write Revelations 2, himself a Claire Redfield fan, he was adamant about having Claire be a part of the story from the very beginning. Fan interest in Barry Burton and his personal life led to the inclusion of himself as a main character and his daughter Moira.
