capcom
Capcom was founded on May 30th, 1979 in Osaka, Japan. The Resident Evil series had been developed mostly in-house under Capcom’s Production Studio 4 from the late 1990s until it’s restructuring in 2005.
INFO
In their first years of development, Capcom featured three different development groups referred to as “Planning Rooms” for the creation of their titles. Later titles were developed by various “Production Studios” which were assigned to different games.
Production Studio 4 developed the majority of the Resident Evil titles. In some cases, Flagship, a Capcom subsidiary also contributed to the series by improving scriptwriting. Production Studio 3 contributed to the series by developing Resident Evil Zero and the Survivor titles. With Production Studio 1 working on the Outbreak Series.
Capcom has restructured the Resident Evil team into Consumer Games Division 1 which also works on the Devil May Cry series.
Many Resident Evil titles have also been outsourced to external developers, many which have been met with underwhelming success.
